Helping Teen Girls Understand Their Periods
I still remember getting my first period and feeling a bit overwhelmed, a bit awkward, and very unsure of what was “normal.” Back then, I didn’t have a guidebook. My mum was incredible and I am so grateful for her! But there was also a part of me that would have loved to have a resource of some sort that was grounded, practical, and from a natural health perspective.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve finally created the resource I wish I had all those years ago.
It’s called Your Period 101: Period Workbook for Teen Girls—a practical, myth-busting guide to periods for teenage girls and their mums.
The Nudge That Got Me Started
This workbook had been sitting on my heart and in my “to-do” pile for a long time. Life got busy, and I kept pushing it aside. Then one day, an incredible mum who had just completed my Women’s Health Masterclass Series said, “Have you ever thought about writing something for younger girls?”
That was the nudge I needed.
Because the truth is, having a healthy menstrual cycle is such an important part of being a healthy woman—and education around that should start young.
What’s Inside the Workbook
This is the workbook I wish I had when I got my first period. It’s designed to help teenage girls—and their mums—feel confident and informed when it comes to period health. I’ve packed it with practical, easy-to-understand information that covers so much more than just the basics. I had the incredible input of a group of mums and daughters! This was a team effort and I’m proud of what we created together.
Inside the workbook, you’ll find:
A fun and accessible guide to how the menstrual cycle works
Nutritional and lifestyle tips to support hormonal health
A myth-busting section (yes, you can exercise your body when you are on your period!)
Natural strategies to reduce PMS
Period survival tips
Guidance on choosing sanitary products and managing period hygiene
Space for learning, notes and reflections
Why It Matters
Periods are not just a “monthly nuisance.” They are a vital sign of health—just like blood pressure or temperature. Helping girls understand their cycle early on can:
Reduce period shame and confusion
Build body confidence
Prevent future hormone imbalances
Encourage better self-care from a young age
This is about more than just managing symptoms—it’s about giving girls the tools to understand their bodies and feel confident.
Want to Take a Look?
If you’ve got a teen girl in your life (daughter, niece, granddaughter), I’d love for you to check out the workbook. Whether she’s just gotten her first period or has been menstruating for a while but still feels unsure—this guide is for her.
Let’s raise a generation of girls who are informed, empowered, and confident about their periods. It starts with simple, honest education—and a whole lot of encouragement.
